MPowerTT is an intervention initiative of the Ministry of Sport and Community Development, that aims to address some of the issues faced by males in our society, that contribute to many issues such as conflict management and low self-esteem.

Aim

MPower aims to provide opportunities for young men to exploit their full potential, lead rewarding lives, and become respected members of their communities and country, by promoting the holistic development of young males, between 18 – 40 years, and enhancing their social awareness, employability, education and quality of life, through positive interactions and meaningful dialogue with successful male role-models.

Objectives

• To improve the quality of life for young men in Trinidad and Tobago, by exposing them to positive dialogue, advice, role models, and assistance towards leading more productive lives.

• To build self-confidence and empower young men to deal with social issues.

• To promote positive messages to our male population, particularly young men, to enable them to make positive decisions thereby fostering social change.

• To equip young men at the community level with the necessary knowledge and skills to make informed decisions, positively channel their energies, map their future and lead more valuable and rewarding lives.

MPowerTT is designed to address issues that are important specifically to:

✓ Male development in our communities,

✓ Create public awareness of the importance of having positive male role models within our communities, schools and even households, and

✓ Strengthen the network to support male empowerment.

The programme will focus on various topics and areas of development which include:  management, mentoring, personal and social development, career development, sexuality and parenting, health and crime.
